The Future Aircraft Carrier or CVF project is due to be given final approval by the Ministry of Defence by the end of October. The project would involve significant work being carried out at the Rosyth dockyard, safeguarding jobs and skills.

Local MP, Willie Rennie said:

"This decision has been a long time coming from the Government, and any further delays should be avoided at all costs.

"The work on the Future Aircraft Carrier is vital for the Rosyth dockyard to be able to maintain the excellent workforce and the skill set which that workforce possesses."
