Rennie calls on Minister to intervene on Coal Authority decision3.26.25pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 18th Oct 2006 Liberal Democrat MP for Dunfermline and West Fife Willie Rennie has today written to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, Alistair Darling expressing his dismay at the decision of the Coal Authority to support the planning application of ATH Resources for an opencast mine at Crossgates. Reacting to the decision, Rennie said: "I am extremely concerned that a Government body is effectively supporting a planning application by a private company, especially an application which has attracted considerable local opposition. "I have written to Alistair Darling, urging him to investigate this decision and I am looking forward to hearing his opinion on this intervention."
