A snap General Election has been called for 8th June 2017. We have selected James Calder as our candidate for the General Election. James lives locally and serves as a Councillor for Dunfermline South.

If elected James would make the following priorities:

  • James Calder would oppose another independence referendum. He would be a champion for local people, not a cheerleader for independence.
  • He wants to end the confrontational approach to the Brexit negotiations taken by the Tories. He wants to see Britain maintain its vital economic link to the Single Market and give the people the final say on any deal made.
  • He wants to see education given the funding it requires. In Dunfermline we have a capacity crisis in our schools partly caused by the SNP’s refusal to give the additional funding to schools that the Liberal Democrats would offer.
  • The NHS is not given the support it needs from the SNP in Scotland. Liberal Democrat plans would give the funding it needs to thrive.
