Local MP Willie Rennie is highlighting advice available for constituents struggling to heat their homes.
Commenting Mr Rennie said:
"The Government's own figures estimate that up to 4.6 million UK households could be living in Fuel Poverty. Without action from the Government this is set to rise as the long term pressure on energy prices is upwards.
"Many people struggling to heat their home are not on the lowest tariffs. In addition past research has shown that those unable to pay their bills are often not claiming all the benefits they are entitled to."
Willie added:
"I would urge those concerned about this issue to get in touch with the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 for advice that may help them cope.
"Whilst some may benefit from advice we still need to see urgent action to tackle the cost of heating older homes and especially those not on the gas main".
