The Government's plans for dismantling the decommissioned nuclear submarines at Rosyth are in "disarray" according to West Fife MP Willie Rennie, who was commenting following the resignation of another government adviser from the Submarine Dismantling Project.
Peter Lanton resigned from the panel, currently investigating the disposal of the decommissioned nuclear submarines, in protest at the sacking of his colleague Jane Hunt.
Mr Lanton's resignation is further evidence of the chaos in the system, according to Willie Rennie MP, who is calling for the Government to "get a grip" and finally provide answers following a fruitless 11 year investigation into how to safely dismantle the decommissioned subs.
Commenting Mr Rennie said:
"Today's news proves that the MoD is in complete disarray over what to do with the subs at Roysth.
"We've now seen three advisers resign from the dismantling project in the last two months. It's clear that there's chaos in the system and that the MoD has a lot to answer for.
"The MoD needs to get a grip over the situation and get these submarines out of the dockyards. We don't Rosyth to become this government's nuclear dumping ground."
