West Fife MP Willie Rennie is demanding answers from the government after an 11-year investigation into how to safely dismantle the decommissioned nuclear-powered submarines at Rosyth Dockyard was thrown into turmoil after two of the environmental experts brought in as advisers were sacked.
Commenting Mr Rennie said
"I'm calling for answers from the MOD about why they rejected the consultation's recommendations as well as the safety concerns that were raised by the consultants.
"Seven redundant submarines have been left rusting in Rosyth Dockyard for up to 25 years and will be stuck there for some time to come unless things change.
"I think I speak for the whole community when I say that it is an association that we wish would come to an end.
"The MOD needs to pull their finger out and get these submarines out of the dockyards. We don't Rosyth to become this government's nuclear dumping ground."
