The SNP have been accused of threatening Fife's main transport artery with its reckless behaviour with the funding for the new Forth Road Bridge. The comments were made by West Fife's Lib Dem MP, Willie Rennie, who is astonished that the SNP Government has had to go cap in hand to the UK Government after their Scottish Future Trust failed to supply the funding.
'The SNP have been in charge for eighteen months yet they haven't secured one single penny to pay for the new essential bridge.
'Because of their reckless fiddling with their over blown commitment to the Scottish Futures Trust we now have a potential funding crisis.
'The longer the uncertainty over the funding continues the greater the concern will be in Fife - especially in the business community who need a guarantee that Fife will not be cut off.
'As the SNP have now conceded that they have failed to raise the funds and have gone cap in hand to the London Government, I will now be seeking an urgent meeting with the Treasury to ensure they bail out the Scottish Executive and guarantee this future transport link for Fife.'
