Rennie Urges Local People to Take Advantage of Will Aid
MP for Dunfermline and West Fife Willie Rennie is urging any constituents who are considering making a Will to take advantage of Will Aid, which runs throughout the month of November.
Under the scheme, qualified solicitors agree to draw up Wills for clients free of charge. Instead of payment clients are asked to make a donation to a Will Aid charity. When the scheme last ran in 2006, more than 7,000 people across the UK made a Will-raising over £700,000.
The importance of making a Will was highlighted by a recent report for the Observer newspaper, which found that more than half of those questioned did not realise that their partner would not necessarily inherit their assets. In addition, the number of contested estates has risen 200% in the last three years.
Mr. Rennie believes that Will Aid could play an important role in encouraging people to sort out their affairs to avoid these problems.
Commenting Mr. Rennie said:
"Will Aid is a great scheme and one that I thoroughly support. It provides a valuable service whilst also raising vital funds for worthwhile charities."
"I encourage any of my constituents who do not currently have a Will to consider taking advantage of this excellent scheme in November."
