After the recent inconvenience suffered by commuters on the train line between Fife and Edinburgh Willie Rennie, the MP for Dunfermline and West Fife has demanded that ScotRail ensure that lessons of the recent chaos are learned and that the company respond more effectively in the future.
In a letter to Mr Rennie, Mary Dickson, the managing director of ScotRail admitted that performance levels were lower than anticipated, but that they were working to get defective trains back on track.
Responding to the letter, Mr Rennie said:
"The delays and overcrowding on the Fife-Edinburgh line have caused huge inconvenience for many of my constituents. The last thing you want on your daily commute is to have to hang around on freezing platforms or stationary trains.
"I hope ScotRail will be true to their word and are working as hard as possible to get this problem sorted, it is important that normal service is resumed to minimise disruption.
"It is vital that lessons are learned from this sorry episode. We need a much faster response from First Scotrail next time."
