GPs' and pharmacists' views sought by Lib Dems

Have the new GP and pharmacist contracts delivered improvements in patient care? That's just one of the questions included in surveys of GPs and pharmacists' to be conducted by the Lib Dems in West Fife.
Other questions include what they think about the performance of NHS Fife and the role of pharmacists in the provision of "out of hours" services.
The surveys are being issued by MP Willie Rennie and Scottish Parliament Spokesman Jim Tolson to 62 GPs and 18 pharmacies in West Fife.
Jim Tolson, who is a member of the local Community Health Partnership, said:
"Over the last couple of years there have been some substantial changes in the way that GPs and pharmacists work. Both have new contracts that have refocused their services towards new priority areas. The first stage of the new pharmacy contract involves a new minor ailment service and public health promotion. The new GP contract encourages GPs to provide a wider range of services closer to home."
Willie Rennie MP said:
"There has been a lot of investment in the NHS in recent years. We want to find out for ourselves what effect this extra money is having on the front line of patient care. Doctors and pharmacists do a great job but in a challenging health environment there is always more that needs done."
