Willie Rennie, MP for Dunfermline and West Fife, is encouraging local constituents to join the World's Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday 29 September 2006.
The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is in its 16th year and one of the largest fundraising events in the UK. Last year nearly two million people, including many MP's, stirred themselves into action and took part in the fun by hosting or attending coffee events across the UK raising a staggering £6.5 million between them.
One in three people will get cancer with 1.2 million people in the UK living with the disease. All money raised last year helped Macmillan be a source of practical, medical, emotional and financial support to those affected by cancer. So every cup of coffee on 29 September really does count and every £1 raised can really make a difference to help people through their cancer journey.
Rennie says: "The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is a great way not only to raise money for such a fantastic cause but also catch up and have some fun with colleagues, friends and family. Cancer is something that has affected so many of my constituents in Dunfermline and West Fife and having a cup of coffee is a great way to make a difference and help Macmillan Cancer Support fund its vital work for people living with cancer. So come on Dunfermline and West Fife get the coffee and biscuits out, invite all your friends - and let's make all our cups of coffee count!"
