Fifer, Willie Rennie MP, is embarking on a massive summer surgery tour of his Dunfermline and West Fife parliamentary constituency spanning two months and over fifty locations. Mr Rennie will be seen honouring another one of his election pledges by making himself available to his constituents in their neighbourhoods.
Willie Rennie said:
"I am looking forward to the tour immensely. The best bit about being an MP is meeting people, finding out what they are concerned about and then getting something done about it. It will also be a great opportunity for more people to meet my support team, who day in and day out are working on my behalf for local residents."
The Tour kicks off in Kincardine High Street on Monday morning, 21st August then progresses east all the way to North Queensferry… and back again! Taking in all the West Fife villages in between. Mr Rennie has issued hundreds of posters to local shops, Post Offices, GP practises and community centres providing a complete list of individual times and locations.
Despite embarking on such a gruelling itinerary, Willie wanted to reassure residents that no-one would miss out, he said:
"We're taking to the streets, to find local people in their own towns, villages and communities. Anyone who can't make the mobile surgeries has only to contact my office and alternative arrangements can be made."
Willie will be joined on the tour by caseworkers Caron Lindsay and Cheryl Kreuger, as well as office manager Peter Barrett and assistant Elspeth Finlay. Dunfermline's local Lib Dem Councillors will also be on hand to help. Since being catapulted into public life, in such dramatic fashion, at the by-election only six months ago Mr Rennie and his team have dealt with over 2500 pieces of casework, issued an MP's report to every household in the constituency and held dozens of local surgeries.
"We've only now caught our breath back," said Willie. "There was so much to do and so many people who needed help, it was hard to know where to start. Now word seems to be getting out that if you want something done, get on to Willie and the Lib Dems. It is very rewarding to be making a real difference."
