A charity worker from St Andrews has been selected by local Liberal Democrats to head up the Mid Scotland and Fife Regional List for the Scottish Parliamentary elections next year, following an STV ballot of local members. An experienced party activist, Cole-Hamilton is set to join current MSP Andrew Arbuckle in the Scottish Parliament, after voters go to the polls next May.
The party is confident of returning both candidates to Holyrood given the major boost to the party's standing in opinion polls across the region following Willie Rennie's spectacular victory in the Dunfermline and West Fife By-election.
Following his selection Alex said:
"I am delighted to have been given a ringing endorsement from my Liberal Democrat colleagues across Mid Scotland and Fife. Independent commentators are predicting that the Liberal Democrats can make great gains in the elections next year. Here in Mid Scotland and Fife we will work hard to capitalise on our spectacular victory in this year's Dunfermline by-election by winning new constituencies and extra seats on the list."
