Local MP, Willie Rennie, has welcomed reports that legislation will be rushed through the Scottish Parliament today to protect the rights Mesothelioma victims and their families.
The Dunfermline and West Fife MP said:
"This is welcome news. I am pleased that the Scottish Parliament is taking the necessary steps to ensure that all those affected by Mesothelioma get the compensation they need and deserve.
"Sadly, Mesothelioma affects many of my constituents. Local doctors have warned that as many as 300 men in West Fife could die from the condition every year."
MSPs are expected to bring in a so-called Sewel motion today to change Scottish law and defend compensation payments for Mesothelioma victims.
The rights of those affected by Mesothelioma were put into doubt by a ruling by Westminster Law Lords that compensation to sufferers could be cut if responsibility could not be attached to a single employer.
