The Liberal Democrats will target to win the Dunfermline West seat from Labour at next year's Scottish Parliamentary Elections. The decision follows the Lib Dems stunning win from Labour in the Westminster by-election three months ago. The Party are currently selecting a candidate for Dunfermline West and are stepping up their campaigning with a massive recruitment drive.
Recent press reports have suggested Labour could lose up to 12 seats in the Holyrood elections.
Dunfermline and West Fife MP, Willie Rennie said, "Our win earlier this year means that the Scottish Parliamentary seat can be won from Labour too. Like the by-election it's going to be a straight choice between the Liberal Democrats and Labour.
"An internal Labour Party poll shows that Labour could lose Dunfermline West and even the local Labour Party Chairman fears the worst. I know the Lib Dems can win but we take nothing for granted. We are recruiting more members and helpers to build on the momentum of our stunning win.
"On top of our 16% swing in Dunfermline we have recently achieved great results in the Moray and Glasgow By-elections."
"We are currently selecting our candidate for the Scottish Parliamentary elections and we hope to announce the result of that democratic selection process soon."
