Local MP, Willie Rennie, has called for the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) to reconsider its decision to drastically cut opening hours for popular local attraction, Culross Palace. In a letter to Shonaig MacPherson, Chairman of National Trust for Scotland, he wrote:
"It is quite clear that reduced opening hours will mean that many visitors to Culross arrive to find the properties closed. This will create a negative impression of both the National Trust for Scotland and the Borough of Culross."
Rennie was especially critical of the lack of consultation by the NTS.
"The NTS has always prided itself on being a community organisation. This approach does not enhance its reputation."
Willie Rennie has been outspoken in championing local tourism. In his Maiden Speech in Parliament, he said:
"Dunfermline was once a magnet for Scotland, and I believe that, in time, it can become so again."
