Dunfermline and West Fife's MP has given his backing to students and staff at the Kirkcaldy Campus of the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Lib Dem MP Willie Rennie has written to Sir Alan Langlands, the Principal of Dundee University, to express his concerns about the proposed closure which would have significant effects across the whole of Fife.
"I am extremely concerned about the proposals to close the Kirkcaldy Campus of the School of Nursing and Midwifery," said Mr Rennie. "I am very keen to ensure that high quality, fit for purpose nurse education and training continues to be provided at the Kirkcaldy Campus."
"There are no problems recruiting pre registration nursing students in Fife, indeed the adult cohort is always oversubscribed. We should be building on this success not destroying it."
"In the long term the closure of this facility will be detrimental to the future recruitment and retention of nurses within Fife. This will have major implications for the users of health care services and will have an impact on the economy as a whole."
"I have written to the Dundee University Principal to urge him to change his mind about the future of the Kirkcaldy Campus."
