On Thursday the 22nd of May the elections for the European Parliament take place and George Lyon MEP is standing for re-election as the Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate.

George has worked tirelessly for the people of Scotland for the past few years, and has helped secure a better deal for rural Scotland by helping protect thousands of jobs and keeping food prices down. He has also worked with the rest of the Liberal Democrat MEPs to help tackle climate change.

The Liberal Democrats have also been the only major party actively campaigning to keep Britain in the EU and Scotland in the UK to help safeguard thousands of jobs.

George Lyon said, “Scotland benefits hugely from our EU membership. Hundreds of thousands of Scottish jobs depend on our place in Europe and billions of pounds have been directly invested in the local economies. We can’t put all this at risk by pulling Britain out of Europe of Scotland out of Britain.”

Willie Rennie MSP, leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, said “George’s expertise and hard work on rural issues on behalf of Scotland in Europe means thousands of jobs all over the country have been protected and food bills will stay down. Rural Scotland needs a strong voice in the European Parliament and they don’t come any stronger than George Lyon.”

On 22nd of May vote George Lyon to be MEP for Scotland and let our voice be heard.
